WDO participates in the Second Ministerial Conference on Social Development in the OIC Member States
June 2023, Cairo, WDO, led by its Executive Director, Dr. Afnan Alshuaiby, participated in the Second Ministerial Conference on Social Development in the OIC Member States that was under the theme of Social Justice and Social Security. The conference took place in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt, on the 5th and 6th of June, 2023.
A delegation from WDO, headed by Her Excellency Dr. Afnan Alshuaiby the Executive Director of the organization, participated in the Women in Islam session that took place in March 2023, during the sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 67) in the UN Headquarters in New York.
WDO, led by its Executive Director Dr. Afnan Alshuaiby, hosted a high-level reception in New York to celebrate women around the world during International Women’s Day. The reception was in collaboration with the OIC’s Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations,

The Women Development Organization (WDO), in collaboration with the National Council for Women (NCW), the European Union (EU) in Egypt, and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women), is holding in Cairo a hybrid intensive training workshop for WDO member states for two days. The training is on “Developing the Periodic Reports Submitted by Member States to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).” The training is conducted by five experts of the CEDAW Committee.
The Governments of Germany, Sweden, and Nigeria together with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Women Development Organization (WDO) held today an event on the margins of the 9th Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) which is currently held in Sharm Al Sheikh- Egypt, (13-17th December 2021). The event was held under the theme of “Shaping the Future - Anchoring Gender in our Anti-Corruption Efforts” which is one of the themes the conference currently discussing.
The Women Development Organization in collaboration with UN Women, UNODC and UNDP launched today the first round of discussions on the establishment of a Multi-partner Trust Fund.
