WDO Convenes the Ministerial Council of the Women Development Organization in Cairo

Cairo, June 6th, 2023 – WDO, led by its Executive Director, H.E Dr. Afnan Alshuaiby, will hold the Second Ordinary Session of the Ministerial Council of the Women Development Organization on the 7th and 8th of June, 2023, at the Nile Ritz Carlton, Cairo, the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The conference will be attended by Ministers and Senior officials from WDO’s member states, envoys from WDO’s partners and sister organizations, and representatives from local and international media.

It will highlight the work and efforts of the organization and its member states in empowering women and girls and enhancing their status in society.

Dr. Maya Morsy, President of the National Council of Women – Egypt, will preside over the meeting and give a speech in the opening ceremony. Her speech will be followed by a statement by Dr. Alshuaiby, who will present all of the work and achievements of the organization.

This will be followed by statements from the member states and the participating organizations.

The Women Development Organization (WDO) is a specialized intergovernmental organization and one of the specialized institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Organization inaugurated its Headquarters (HQ) in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt in 2021. WDO’s main role is developing and strengthening the role of women and girls in society with the aim of empowering, integrating, and supporting women and girls in the political, social, educational, cultural, and economic fields.
